Dear Friends in Christ.

On the 2 nd week our city was hit by a cyclone with 160 km speed and left lot of damages. It disturbed the Christmas mood because the celebration and carol rounds were cancelled. It was little disappointing. In the 2 nd week, the District Child Protection Officer visited our IGM Children Homes (Both boys and girls) for renewal the Juvenile Justice Act registration certificate and the license to run a children home. The manager of the Hilton Hotel which is located at Chennai city invited 25 children who are interested in baking to participate in the Christmas event and provided Christmas gift & special food to the children.

On the last Sunday before Christmas day, get together lunch for all the members, villagers and representatives from the projects attended which held at the head quarters. Before Christmas IGM church members, branch church members and all the beneficiaries from all the projects had 2 hours prayer to thank God for all his kindness and Grace. During this lockdown time, we conducted a tailoring class at IGM campus. The higher secondary girls are motivated to learn tailoring, art & craft along with their studies. We encouraged them to concentrate according to their interest, foreseeing their future.

Already there is an on-going IGMs tailoring project at Devikapuram, was started with the aim to raise the financial status of the poor families. This project is for widows, house wives, young-girls who are unable to continue their higher studies. It is a six months course; well experienced teachers train the students. The current batch has been graduated in August, and many are eagerly waiting to enroll for the next batch.

Like we did before in the previous months we supported some of the poor families with their monthly groceries and vegetables it was a small support from our side to the daily wages families who are left unemployed for many months.

Please continue to hold us in your prayers and for other project also. On behalf of everyone at IGM, I thank everyone for support and Love.

Greetings to everyone on behalf of all children from IGM children home. God has been merciful throughout the pandemic period. All the staffs and children were safe. Continuous precautionary steps were taken in all the places especially inside the campus. Since the schools were closed the children appeared through online classes and finished their annual exams. The students appearing for their board exams were declared all pass and promoted to next class. During their free time they were engaged in art and craft classes. Some of them were thrilled to learn about the gardening skills.

The Covid cases were increasing rapidly due to the new variant. Since we could not do any other projects we wanted to do something as it was much needed.

IGM conducted awareness program through a recorded Audio video (AV) displayed in a vehicle which is projected in all the public places. Many uneducated villagers shared their thoughts that it was helpful for them to clearly understand about the virus and safety measures to be taken.

This awareness program was inaugurated from the collectrate office and it has reached and created awareness thousands of public.

The local officials appreciated our service and it was encouraging for us to continue this great service.

Truly it has been tough time. But God has been gracious upon everyone throughout this difficult time.

Instead of losing our hopes, we trusted more on the works of God’s hand that soon the situation would be better due to the prolonged lockdown. The field projects had to be temporarily put on hold. But we were eagerly waiting for the good times to come.

The older girls who have been staying indoors for a long period were doing their hand crafts, and utilizing their free time usefully.

After a long wait, the virus slowly started to reduce and there were some relaxations in the restriction followed. Simultaneously the children were covering their academic portions and finished their terms.

Since they were all bored we found a safe time to go to the beach. The kids were happy to see the outside world. Though have been to the beach many times, but this visit was a special one.

We celebrated our Independence Day and other festivals indoors. Soon the restrictions were slowly relaxed and the kids were eagerly waiting to go to school.

This pandemic period taught us many things in life. Few important things what we realized is, nothing is permanent and anytime we should be ready to accept changes in our life. Along with the children we also started to admire and appreciate small things because sometimes life doesn’t need philosophies and theories even the simplest things can turn as a miracle. We all together learned to value and respect each other. This pandemic period has been a learning time for many of us. We are proud that the kids very well handled these kinds of situations.

Hope soon there will be a good beginning !

After a long wait, the lockdown has been slowly relaxed. It was a great relief for all of us. The markets, shops and schools were partially opened and we started to move around slowly but maintaining social distance and flowing strict precautionary rules.

The schools were opened for the high school children were going to schools. Itwas so exciting for the children to get back to school partially. At the same time we were cautious to take things slowly and gradually finish their academics.

The festivals like Deepavali we celebrated by the children. It was fun to be inside the campus to have a gathering.

In a neighbouring college there was a special seminar about a cooking show and the older girls and staffs were happy to participate and meet renowned chefs.

During the end of the year the monsoon rains were severe and flood hits in many parts of our state. Again the schools had to close and it affected the routine of the children a d many offices.

During this flood time, IGM volunteered to rescues many families. Our team went to flooded areas and distributed food packets and groceries. We provided food and distributed nearby villages and it was appreciated by officials for the service to the community.

The Feeding project was effective during the flood times and after that because many villagers had their meals from the vegetables and groceries distributed by us.

2021 was a year of mixed emotions for each one of us. Though the start was not good the end was happy and celebrated Christmas and New Year happily with special food and new dresses.
